Workers Stranded As NLC Shuts Down Lagos Secretariat
The NLC sealed the main gate into the secretariat, thereby causing gridlock in the area and preventing workers from gaining access.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has shut down all entrances into the premises of Lagos State Secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja.
The Labour Union declared a 14-day warning strike yesterday and ordered all private and public employees to stay away from their places of work, beginning from Thursday, September 27, 2018.
To enforce compliance with this order, the NLC sealed the main gate into the secretariat, thereby causing gridlock in the area and preventing workers from gaining access.
The labour unions are demanding an upward review of the minimum wage from N18,000 to between N50,000 and 65,000.
